Common Problems of H&K VP9 and Solutions

ProblemsSolutions
Slide lock issuesRepair or change the spring
Slide Release IssueUse the alternative slide release lever.
Slide and recoil spring IssueRemove the recoil spring fully and try again
Ejection IssueReplace the ammo with a brand new one
Shock or Vibration IssueSend it to the H&K for a complete inspection

1. Slide Lock Issue:

After roughly 100 rounds when it was originally brought to the range, the slide frequently stopped locking back. It would first release as a new magazine was being loaded. Then it started to discharge whether a magazine was loaded or not.

It doesn’t stop locking back even after holding it on the bottom of the grip and the issue can go further despite changing the slide lock with a new one.

The Fix:

Contact the customer service of H&K and tell them about your issues. The issue is about the spring. The old spring is causing the issue here. Simply change the spring with a brand new and it will fix this issue.

With the right amount of grip pressure, you should have no trouble cycling the slide unless you’re shooting purple box Federals. See if you can improve your thumb by working on it.

2. Slide Release Issue:

Some shooters used to fire handguns with their thumbs raised and facing fronts, such as the Glocks and 1911s. Keeping in mind, some face problems with fingers riding on or unintentionally bumping the slide release.

This prevents the pistol from locking back on the most recently fired bullet. This issue keeps on coming even with the ficcohi and other practice ammo.

The Fix:

For the P30 and P2000/P2000sk, alternate slide release levers are offered. both of which function in the HK45 series. Practice keeping your thumb from the slide or frame with your strong hand.

Try to place your left thumb over your right thumb if you are a right-handed person. The issue will be fixed. Along with that, a highly secure and pleasant grip will be developed.

3. Slide and Recoil Issue:

After cleaning the VP9, often users are unable to get the slide to fully engage; it is short by at least a quarter of an inch.

The recoil spring for the barrel is also very difficult to install. It won’t move, as though something is preventing it.

The Fix:

Try again after entirely removing it. After putting the slide back, pull the trigger. Once everything is put together and in the groove, it should simply slide on. Ensure that the barrel lug is seated over the recoil assembly.

4. Ejection Issue:

Whenever people use this vp9 model for the first time, they often face the issue of the loads not coming out. It happens to newer guns. The issue occurred due to the ammo.

Keeping the pistol too low on the grip prevents enough resistance from being applied for the slide to fully retract (stovepiping). This would occur if users were unable to raise their hands high enough on the grip.

The Fix:

Use 200 rounds of hotter ammunition and repeatedly cycle the slide. You won’t have that problem if you try some 124g Lawman, S&B, Q4318, Geco, MEN, etc.

Besides, sufficient lubrication would help fix this issue. If this issue still remains, the ammo needs to be changed and it should work fine.

5. Shock or Vibration Issues:

After firing the vp9 gun for a while, the vibration and shock of the weapon caused the users’ hands to ache after around two full magazines. This is a very rare case so there might be a problem with this gun.

The Fix:

Take the rifle apart and thoroughly inspect it. Keep an eye out for anything that seems off. Take detailed shots of any chips or cracks you find. You should submit those.

Call H&K no matter what you discover. Their CS is excellent and very helpful. I firmly advise you to return it to them via a nearby FFL dealer if they want you to mail it in.

User Feedbacks on H&K vp9

It’s a handgun of the highest caliber. It won’t, however, be the final solution. With numerous features that many shooters may find useful. The smallest details will determine if it is going to be the ideal weapon or not.

H&K vp9 has the best trigger of all the striker fire handguns in the market. It is superior in terms of take-up length, pull-over travel, and reset. However, vp9 has a better overall trigger feel and trigger dynamics.

In terms of reliability, it works flawlessly. Durability is also good. The cocking fence is great and it has a removable back strap which is good. However, it is a very expensive gun compared to others.

The grip of the vp9 is better and has a prominent hub on the back of the vp9 grip. But it has a very questionable paddle magazine. However, it doesn’t have a smooth trigger pull but overall it is a good gun to have.

The GLOCK 17 9 mm Luger pistol’s recognizable “Safe Action” trigger system makes it safe, simple, and quick—exactly what you need in life-or-death situations.

Walther PPQ M2

The specifications of ppq m2 that coincide with the H&K vp9 are the barrel length, trigger travel, caliber of 9*19 and magazine capacity. One of the best alternatives to the vp9.

The handgun that has the entire industry talking is the PPQ. Nearly all critics agree that the quick-defense trigger is the greatest striker-fired trigger.

Glock 19

Glock 19 is essentially a smaller version of Glock 17. Both of these semi-automatic pistols, which fire 9mm rounds, are the work of Gaston Glock. Glock 17 magazines work with Glock 19 handguns.

Due to its smaller size compared to the usual sized choice, the GLOCK 19 in 9 mm Luger is perfect for a variety of roles. It is perfect for using as a backup weapon or for concealed carry.
